Volunteer

at Yackandandah Health

Yackandandah Health has a thriving volunteer community. We have volunteers serving in a diverse range of programs and we are always interested in hearing from members of the community who are seeking a fulfilling volunteer role.


Essential Elements of Volunteering

The essential elements of volunteering include providing a service to the community because you want to, without monetary reward. Volunteering is all about gaining a sense of satisfaction by helping others and having fun at the same time. It is also a valuable opportunity to learn new and important life skills.

Types of volunteer roles include:

SPECIAL PROJECTS
  • For people interested in a short-term commitment
  • Aged Services volunteer – spare half an hour or more to have a chat with a resident.
PASTORAL CARE

Develop a longer-term friendship with one of our residents - spend time, have a cuppa and chat.

ACTIVITIES

Want to share your talent, interest, craft or other skill with a resident?

DRIVERS

Use our vehicle to drive residents to appointments.

GARDENING

Work with our residents and gardener.

Requirements of a Volunteer
  • 16 years and older (anyone under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian).
  • Undergo an NDIS Check
  • Commit to a minimum of six months service and a minimum of 3 hours a fortnight.
  • Complete relevant orientation and training.
  • Sign and agree to our confidentiality agreement.
  • Keep us updated with any changes in availability or contact details.
  • Insurance for volunteers is held by the organisation - volunteers are encouraged to find out details.
  • Currently insurance for volunteers over 80 years of age is limited.
